Supporting Westmead Hospital Staff’s ‘Wellbeing Fair’

ADHF and ADA in-conjunction with Colgate Palmolive supported Westmead Hospital Staff Wellbeing Fair which was held on Tuesday 23rd September.

The Staff Wellbeing program at Westmead Hospital is intended to provide staff and volunteers with opportunities to obtain helpful and practical strategies in managing day to day challenges and their own health and wellbeing. The Staff Health Fair provided nutrition and healthy living information, exercise and fitness tips, head and shoulder massages, free giveaways, prizes and more.

The ADA’s Oral Survival Guides were provided to over 1000 staff members at the Wellbeing Fair as well as this year’s Dental Health Week facts to the Westmead Dental Department. The ADA’s Oral Health Promoter Amelia Seselja said that ‘this was a great opportunity to educate and support health professionals about the importance of oral health and was a perfect example of the importance of collaboration in health promotion”.

Colgate-Palmolive generously provided the staff at Westmead Hospital with toothbrushes, toothpaste, lanyards and fact sheets to also help promote and support the importance of good oral health.

“Colgate is very supportive of the work being done by the ADA in oral health promotion. The Staff Wellbeing Day at Westmead Hospital is an ideal forum to attend.  It is very important that people working in all health professions, not just dental fields, are aware of oral health issues and understand how they can assist with recognition of oral health conditions, simple prevention messages and referral to dental practitioners”- Dr Sue Cartwright

Keith Whelan from the ADHF was also delighted to partner with Colgate- Palmolive and Westmead Hospital to support the Staff Wellbeing day.  “The ADHF, together with its dedicated supporters and volunteers, is helping disadvantaged Australians through its research, education and dental aid projects.  As part of this process, the Foundation is committed to the education of Health Care professionals in oral health and hygiene. The Foundation feels such partnerships with Colgate and Westmead Hospital is beneficial in promoting the importance of on oral health and hygiene”
